The IT industry, one of the most innovative sectors, is discriminating by gender more strongly than most other areas of the economy. What does it mean for a society if half its population is mostly barred from a future-shaping industry, and how can this tendency be reversed? I investigated these questions together with my colleagues Javier Sauras, Michele Bertelli, and Abdi Latif Dahir on three continents. The result was a multimedia feature published in several countries and decorated with awards. The investigation was supported by the European Journalism Centre.
